WATCH: Babar Azam Gives His 'Man Of The Match' Award To Khushdil Shah Despite Scoring A Ton
PAK vs WI 1st ODI: In the 1st ODI played at Multan, Pakistan defeated West Indies by 5 wickets to build a 1-0 lead in the ongoing ODI series. West Indies posted a target of 306 runs against Pakistan after opting to bat first. Shai Hope played 134 deliveries and scored magnificent 17 runs, completing his 12th ODI century.
When Pakistan came out to chase the total, captain Babar Azam scored a record-breaking 17th century and eventually took the team to a 5-wicket win. For his incredible performance, Babar was named 'Man of the match', but the batter refused to accept the award and left every spectator astonished.
Babar Azam refused to take the award for himself and instead gave it to Khushdil Shah and was successful in winning the hearts of the fans as well. In the dying moments of the match, when Pakistan seemed to be losing, Khushdil Shah smacked an unbeaten 41 runs in 23 deliveries and took Pakistan across the finish line with a crucial knock. In his knock, Khushdil targetted Romario Shepherd and in the crucial 47th over, the Pakistani batter smacked three consecutive sixes and collected 20 runs, swinging the game back in Pakistan's favour. In the 49th over, Khushdil again smacked Shepherd for a six and eventually Pakistan managed to win the match. Windies are 1-0 down in the 3-match ODI series and would have to win the remaining two games to win the series.
