WATCH: CSK Opener Ruturaj Gaikwad Finally Explodes With 99 Runs Against SRH

SRH vs CSK IPL 2022: After a dream IPL season in 2021 and becoming the first uncapped Indian player ever to win the Orange Cap, Ruturaj Gaikwad was struggling with the bat in this season. However, Gaikwad waved the bad form away as he played a thunderous knock against Sunrisers Hyderabad, smacking 99 runs at a strike rate of 173+. 

After being put in to bat first, Gaikwad opened with Devon Conway, who made his return to the CSK playing XI in this match. The two openers took on SRH's strong bowling attack and etched an opening partnership of 182 runs in 17.4 overs. 

Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 99 runs in 57 balls with 6 fours and 6 sixes before getting dismissed in the 18th over by Thangarasu Natarajan. His opening partner, Devon Conway, remained unbeaten with 85 runs in 55 balls with 8 fours and 4 sixes. 

Gaikwad scored 635 runs in 16 matches in IPL 2021 for CSK and remained the highest run-getter in the tournament as Chennai clinched their fourth IPL title. Consequently, Gaikwad was retained for 6 crores INR ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction. However, before the inning, Gaikwad just had 138 runs to his name in 8 innings with an ordinary strike rate of 117.95.

While talking about the match, Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Kane Williamson won the toss & opted to field first against Chennai Super Kings in the 46th match of IPL 2022. Gaikwad and Conway's explosive partnership powered CSK to 202/2 in 20 overs. For SRH, Thangarasu Natarajan was the sole wicket-taker with 2 wickets to his name. This match is being played at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune.
