SL vs AUS - After losing the ODI series, Australia managed to pull back things as they dominated hosts Sri Lanka on day 1 of the 1st test. After resuming the play on Day 2, Australians were trailing by 114 runs with 7 wickets in hand in the first innings. Sri Lankan all-rounder Dhananjaya de Silva, however, provided a wicket in the second over of the day as he dismissed Travis Head cheaply.

Usman Khawaja (47*) and Travis Head (6*) were the overnight batters for Sri Lanka. After a rain-delayed start on Day 2, Australians scored 2 runs in the first over by Ramesh Mendis. Dhananjaya de Silva was bowling the second over while Travis Head (6*) was on strike.

De Silva drifted in the first delivery which straightened with the angle. Travis Head was looking to work it on the on-side, maybe the batter was looking to play very square and against the turn, closing the bat face. The leading edge of Head's bat popped to the right of the bowler, who flung himself and completed the excellent catch with both hands.

Travis Head was dismissed after scoring just 6 runs as Australia lost their 4th wicket on a score of 100, still trailing by 112 runs. This was Dhananjaya de Silva's first wicket of the innings for Sri Lanka.

While talking about the match, Australia are at 233/5 in the first innings with a lead of 21 runs at tea on Day 2. Cameron Green (48*) and Alex Carey (43*) are at the crease for Australia. Ramesh Mendis has picked up 2 wickets while Dhananjaya de Silva and Jeffrey Vandersay picked up 1 wicket each.
