WATCH: Dushmantha Chameera's Dream First Over Gets Virat Kohli Out On A Golden Duck
The first over of a cricket match is very important. The bowlers are getting into the rhythm and batters are setting their eyes in. With both bowler and batter not in the full flow, the one who gets the rhythm first ends up at the top.
The batters try to take advantage of the bowler getting into the rhythm by hitting them for boundaries while the bowler tries to make full use of the new ball. In the T20s, the batters are more aggressive.
During the RCB vs LSG match in the IPL 2022, Dushmantha Chameera took the new ball against the Bangalore openers - Anuj Rawat and Faf du Plessis. Anuj took the strike and nothing much happened on the first three bowls.
On the fourth bowl, Anuj smacked a four straight as an arrow. It was a punishing hit and it seemed the Anuj will try to take on Chameera again, and he did. On the next ball, Anuj took attempted another shot, this time between mid-off and covers. However, the ball went towards the mid-off where KL Rahul dived to complete the catch.
On the next ball, Virat Kohli was on the strike. Chameera bowled a length ball outside the off stump that bounced a bit higher than expected by Kohli, who tried to play it through the off-side.
The ball went straight into the hands of backward point and Kohli was dismissed on the first ball - a golden duck that came after five years for the RCB's star batter.
RCB were two down for seven runs after the first over and Chameera had to bowl a hattrick ball in his next over. However, that didn't end well as du Plessis hit him for a four on the first ball of the third over - Chameera's hattrick ball.
