The first day of the first test match between England and New Zealand saw a special moment right at the end of the first session of play when all the members from both teams halted the game and gave applause for the recently demised Australian legendary cricketer Shane Warne.

In the 23rd over of the inning, all the players lined up in the middle of the pitch and gave a 23 second applause to shirt number 23 - Shane Warne as a tribute.

Apart from this, the Lord's stadium has also given a special honor to Warne's legacy as a cricket commentator as well. Ahead of the game, the sky sports commentary box at Lords was renamed 'Shane Warne Commentary Box' due to his long association with the channel.

The Australian leg-spinner Warne died of a suspected heart attack on 4th March 2022 in Thailand, where he was on a holiday in Koh Samui. Warne was only 52 years of age when he died an untimely death.
