In T20 cricket, every over has a different value for the teams. There are overs in which the batting teams don't want to take many risks and overs in which they go full throttle. It is a general theory that teams apply in their game plan but not individual batter specific.

Over 5th and 6th in the powerplay are the most expensive overs in the first six overs. In IPL 2022, the two overs concede close to nine runs per over; the first four overs are comparatively silent and the batting team is happy to go run-a-ball.

In today's match between Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans, the men in yellow opted to bat first and lost Devon Conway early. In the first four overs, CSK's score was 15/1 and no boundaries were hit.

Yash Dayal was brought in to bowl the fifth over and the first ball was a huge appeal that got turned down by the umpire. Ruturaj Gaikwad had it enough and on the next ball, he came down the track to smash Yash for a four straight over the mid-on.

On the next ball, Gaikwad pulled Yash for a six over fine leg and another four followed with a flick past the fine leg region again. The fifth over conceded 15 runs and CSK were back on track with 30 runs in five overs.

Rashid Khan came to bowl the sixth over - the final over of the powerplay - and first three balls only had three runs. It looked like Rashid will close the powerplay quietly but Moeen Ali had other plans.

The fourth ball was dropped short by Rashid and Moeen was quick to react and pulled it over square leg for a six. It was close to the fielder set and Rashid had a bit of a smile on his face that he almost got Moeen out. But on the next ball, it was a far better connection as Moeen slog-swept Rashid over mid-wicket and the ball went far away into the stands. 17 runs came in that Rashid Khan over.
