Defending world test champions had a terrible outing in their practice match against County Select XI at Chelmsford in their second innings, where they were restricted to a meagre total of 19/6 at one stage. The credit for the same goes to 29-year old right-arm fast-medium bowler Jamie Porter who dazzled Kiwi's top order with his lethal bowling.

After asserting the first inning of lead of 115 runs, the Kiwis lost their opener, Will Young, early on in the second, as he was dismissed for a 3-ball duck by Jamie Porter on the second delivery with a brilliant inswinging delivery on short of good length.  At the time, the Kiwis were yet to add a run in the second innings.

Tom Latham was dismissed in the 3rd over by Ben Gibbon, and in the next over, Jamie Porter struck again as he dismissed New Zealand captain Kane Williamson for a 9-ball duck, caught out by Ryan Patel at first slip as the batter struggled against the short delivery by Porter.

In the 6th over Jamie Porter got another priced wicket as he dismissed Devon Conway with an inswinging delivery on fullish good length as the batter was caught plumb in front of the stumps after scoring 5 runs of 10 bowls with a four.

Tom Blundell was the next to be dismissed, just two balls later after Conway was dismissed. Blundell was dismissed for a 2-ball duck and was out LBW against on-fire Jamie Porter. Colin de Grandhomee was Porter's final victim as he was dismissed unluckily after scoring just 2 runs in 7 deliveries. Grandomme was dismissed in the 10th over and Jamie Porter completed his 5-fer in just 5 overs and restricting New Zealand from scoring a big total in the 2nd inning.
