WI vs IND - With most of the 'regular' players rested for the 3-match ODI series against West Indies, the young players got an opportunity to prove their mettle. Shubman Gill got the chance to open the innings with captain Shikhar Dhawan and smacked a half-century. Gill was looking dangerous with a strike rate above 100 but was dismissed courtesy of an excellent throw by West Indies captain Nicholas Pooran.

After being put in to bat, team India got off to a flying start as the openers added 119 runs for the first wicket. Shubman Gill, looked in good touch as he brought up his maiden OID half-century of just 36 balls, smacking 6 fours & 2 sixes in the process.

The duo was going strong, taking on the Windies bowlers without any problem. However, West Indies got the breakthrough in the 18th over. Alzarri Joseph bowled a back-of-a-length delivery to Shubman Gill on the 4th delivery. Gill tucked it away to the right of mid-wicket and strolled across.

Usually an easy single, Gill displayed a lazy piece of running, not expecting Nicholas Pooran to collect the ball so quickly and nail a direct. The opposition skipper did just that and caught Gill short of his crease. The young Indian was dismissed after scoring 64 runs off 53 balls with 6 fours & 2 sixes.
