WATCH: Richa Ghosh Smacks Historic ODI Fifty vs New Zealand
India had yet another poor outing in New Zealand to their preparation for the women's World Cup. In the 4th ODI, India lost the rain-affected match by 63 runs while chasing 192 in 20 overs.
However, Richa Ghosh had a memorable day at the John Davies Oval in Queensland as she smacked records during her 52-run knock that went in vain.
Richa came at the crease with the score reading 19/4 in 4.4 overs and smashed the fastest fifty by an Indian woman in ODIs as she crossed the 50-run mark in 26 balls.
The 18-year-old overcame Veda Krishnamurthy's four-year-old record of a 32-ball fifty against South Africa in 2018. It was also the fastest ODI fifty scored in Women's ODI played in New Zealand; the previous record was of Amelia Kerr which interestingly was also made in this match only in 28 balls.
Ghosh now has the seventh fastest fifty in Women's ODIs. Deandra Dottin has the record of fastest fifty in WODIs - 20 balls vs Sri Lanka in 2013.
