NZ vs PAK: Shaheen Afridi had a rather slow start to the T20 World Cup 2022 as he went wicketless in the first 2 overs. However, the bowler gained his rhythm when it mattered and struck in the first over of the 1st semi-finals against New Zealand.

Kiwi opener Finn Allen has shown tremendous batting in the tournament, scoring 95 runs in 5 matches at an impeccable strike rate of 186.27. The right-hander yet again gave signs of an explosive start as New Zealand opted to bat first in the 1st semi-finals at Sydney.

Shaheen was handed the first over and on the first delivery, the left arm pacer delivered a 124 kph gentle paced and slightly overpitched delivery. The bowl had negligible swing into the batter and Allen drove it firmly straight of mid-on, collecting a four on the first bowl of the match.

Shaheen delivered the 2nd delivery at 132 kph and at very full length. Finn Allen stayed back to flick and the ball struck him on the backlog. The fielders went up in appeal and umpire Marais Erasmus raised his finger. However, Allen reviewed it and the replay showed Finn Allen edging it onto his pads.

On the next delivery, there was an appeal yet again and was given out as well. Shaheen bowled the delivery full and swungi in. A shuffling Finn Allen tried to flick and played all around it. The batter didn't account for the swing and got pinned on the front leg adjacent to sticks. Ball-tracking showed three reds and Allen wasted a review before getting dismissed for just 4 runs.
