Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh are facing off against each other in the 3rd Quarter Final match of the Ranji Trophy 2022, where Uttar Pradesh won the toss & opted to bowl first. Karnataka opener, Mayank Agarwal, continued his bad form and was yet again unable to provide a good start for the team. During his 41-ball stay at the crease, there was an incident where the ball hit his rib cage and he was seen whimpering in pain.

In his innings, Mayank Agarwal faced 41 deliveries against the Uttar Pradesh bowling attack and scored mere 10 runs including a four. Mayank seemed uncomfortable during his short stay at the crease and delivery by Shivam Mavi hit him on his rib cage. A video of the same was posted by BCCI on their official website.

This happened on the last delivery of the 7th over. Shivam Mavi was bowling his first over of the match and bowled a short & quick ball on his leg. Mayank couldn't middle the bowl perfectly while trying to glance it away, and was hit on the ribs after the ball took an edge. Even though the batter completed the run, the physio immediately came out and applied an ice pack on the injured area.

The umpire walked up to the batter and had a chat while the batter was still on the ground. After a while, Mayank Agarwal was back on his as he splashed water on his face.

It is noteworthy that the same bowler went on to dismiss Mayank on the last delivery of the 13th over. Another short-pitched delivery which was down the leg side, and maybe gloved it to Dhruv Jurel behind the wickets. As there were no reviews and the on-field umpire adjudged it out, Mayank had to walk back to the pavilion.
