WATCH: Sunrisers Hyderabad's New Recruit Vishnu Vinod Smacks A Quick Century In Ranji Trophy

Ranji Trophy 2022: Vishnu Vinod attracted a mini bidding battle for his services in the recent IPL 2022 auction, where Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians fought at the auction for the middle order batter and keeper from 20 lakhs to 50 lakhs, and was sold to SRH. The batter has now displayed his worth as he smacked a brisk century in the Ranji Trophy match between Gujarat and Kerala. 

The attacking batter came to bat at #6 for the Kerala team and smacked 113 runs off 143 balls, with a strike rate of 79.02. The 28-year-old smashed 15 fours and a six in his knock before he was LBW dismissed by S.A. Desai. However, Kerala had already reached a total of 423 and ended with a total of 439. 

Prior to this, after being put in to bat first, Gujarat posted a total of 388 in the first innings with centuries from Het Patel (185) and Karan Patel (120). Nidhees M D picked up 5 wickets while Basil Thampi picked up 4, and Edhen Apple Tom registered one wicket. In reply, Kerala were powered to a total of 439 with tons from Rohan S Kunnummal (129) and Vishnu Vinod. Captain Sachin Baby also contributed with 53 runs as Kerela asserted a first-inning lead of 51 runs.

While writing this piece, Gujarat are at 94/5 on Day 3 of the match with a lead of 43 runs. Umang (15) and Karan P Patel (4) are at the crease for Gujarat as they fight out to set a fightable target in front of the Kerala team in this match being played at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium.
