WATCH: Tim David Shows His Value With A Destructive Finish
Mumbai Indians had a different strategy in IPL 2022 Mega Auction where they wanted to pick players for the future who can also add value in the current season as well. One such name in these future superstars was Tim David.
Everyone was excited to see the Singaporean cricketer play in the IPL due to his ability to smack the bowlers left, right, and center. Tim had a favorable matchup with each type of bowling - from high pace to wrist spin, David could smack anything.
Mumbai played him in the first two games and then dropped him. In those two matches, Tim David could only score 13 runs. It wasn't a fair reflection of his ability but MI didn't see much in him to back him.
Cut to eight games and eight losses later, MI finally brought David back into playing XI and he got only nine balls to play but he made sure to make an impact and hit 20 runs to finish the game and help MI win the first match of the season.
In the next game, David was once again asked to do the finishing job and he obliged. Tim smacked 44 runs in just 21 balls with the help of four sixes and two fours to power Mumbai to 177 - a par score in the first inning at Brabourne Stadium.
In Tim David's presence, Mumbai Indians smashed 57 runs in the slog overs after a middle-overs collapse saw them struggling at 119/4. David surely had the skill to play these impactful knocks and only makes you wonder - was it a major blunder not to play him. David would have surely made the batting much better and could have won them 1 or 2 games that MI lost by close margins.
