WATCH: Wade Displays His 'Spirit Of Cricket'; Tries To Stop Mark Wood From Taking Catch
AUS vs ENG: An unusual incident was witnessed in the first T20I between Australia and England which caused a bit of frustration amongst the English bowlers. In the 17th over of Australia's run chase, English captain Jos Buttler alongwith other English bowlers were seemingly fumed with Matthew Wade. In a dishonest effort, Matthew Wade tried to stop Mark Wood from catching the ball.
Matthew Wade's shot on the third ball went away from him in the air. The bowler Mark Wood had an excellent chance to take a catch and dismiss the finisher. Wade tried to portray that he didn't know where the ball was. Seeing Mark Wood advancing towards him, Wade, while trying to get back to his crease did a shameful act. He tried to stop Wood by his hands and protected himself from getting dismissed.
Even though Mark Wood had a chance to complete this catch, Wade stopped the bowler from his hand. Alongwith Buttler, a number of English players were angry with this act of Wade and that the batter did it deliberately. After a discussion between the on-field umpires, Matthew Wade was adjudged not out. However, after having a close look at the video, one can see that Wade actually deliberately tried to stop Mark Wood.
