Watson credits team for win over KKR
Mumbai, May 17 (IANS) Rajasthan Royals all-rounder Shane Watson credited his team for an all-round show for their nine-run victory over Indian Premier League (IPL) defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders at the Brabourne Stadium here.
Opener Watson struck an unbeaten 104 off 59 balls, including nine fours and five sixes, to help the Royals reach 199/6. In reply, Kolkata could manage only 190/9 in their 20 overs on Saturday night.
“There were lot of moments in the game which helped us take advantage, giving us a chance to defend 200. It was an incredible wicket and there is no doubt about that. The outfield was very fast," said Watson.
"Dhawal Kulkarni’s two catches were crucial, Chris Morris’ four wickets were crucial, and also the catch by Ajinkya Rahane which got Azhar Mahmood out, was crucial.”
Talking about his own form, the Australian said that his hard work resulted in him scoring the century.
“It true that I haven’t got off to a good start this season. But I was working hard both on my bowling and batting to improve as much as possible. The injury I sustained at the start of the season made me work more on my skills,” said Watson.
“I am happy to have executed my plans with the bat against Kolkata. Just have to keep working hard and find ways to improve my game.”
