Windies batsman Bravo suffers hamstring injury
Christchurch, Feb 21 (IANS) West Indies batsman Darren Bravo's future in the World Cup was thrown up in jeopardy after he injured his left hamstring while batting during his team's World Cup match against Pakistan here Saturday.
Bravo was forced to retire hurt on 49 after suffering the injury while taking a quick single. He fell to the ground while completing a single in the 32nd over of the West Indies innings.
The extent of his injury and the ramfications of it was still not clear.
Bravo was earlier in his innings struck in the side of the helmet by a throw from Younis Khan while taking a quick run. He was 30 when he was hit. But he shook off the injury after receiving treatment from the physio.
But 19 runs later he was forced to retir hurt with the leg injury.
West Indies posted 310 for six in their alloted 50 overs after being sent in to bat first.
