World Test Championship: Latest WTC Points Table After SL vs PAK 1st Test

Pakistan registered a record run chase in the first Test at Galle, defeating Sri Lanka by 4 wickets while chasing 342 runs in the fourth innings. Captain Babar Azam & Abdullah Shafique were the stars with the bat while Shaheen Afridi and Mohammad Nawaz shined with the ball.

After opting to bat first, Sri Lanka were bowled out for 222 runs in the first innings. Dinesh Chandimal was the top scorer with 76 runs to his name while Shaheen Shah Afridi picked up 4 wickets.

In reply, Pakistan looked dazed at 85/7. However, Babar Azam's defiance at the other end helped Pakistan to 218 runs as the skipper scored 119 runs. Prabath Jayasuriya picked up 5 wickets for the hosts in the first innings. 

Sri Lanka displayed better batting in the second innings as Dinesh Chandimal (94), Kusal Mendis (76) and Osahda Fernando (64) helped the hosts to set a target in excess of 300. In the fourth innings, defiant Pakistan opener Abdullah Shafique took his team to a win while batting out 408 deliveries at a strike rate of 39.22.

With this win, Pakistan have taken over Sri Lanka to occupy the 3rd spot with a PCT of 58.33 in 8 matches. India and West Indies have gained one spot each and are now at 4th and 5th position with a PCT of 52.08 and 50.00 respectively. Sri Lanka have fallen down 3 spots to the 6th spot with a PCT of 48.15. 

South Africa and Australia are still steady in the top two spots. South Africa are at the top, still undefeated with a PCT of 71.43 while Australia are second with a PCT of 70.00.
