Zimbabwe captain Taylor praises Indian bowlers
Auckland, March 13 (IANS) Zimbabwe stand-in captain Brendan Taylor has heaped praise on the Indian bowling line-up ahead of their World Cup Pool B clash at the Eden Park here on Saturday.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference on Friday, the veteran batsman said the Indian bowlers are proving themselves even in conditions that are not suited to them.
“We all know what a power house they are at batting but they certainly hold their own with the ball. They have had proven performances with their spinners and we see how well they have done for India over the years," said Taylor, who is all set to play his last match in a Zimbabwe jersey.
"Even in conditions that are not so suited to them, they have been very difficult to get away.”
The Indian bowlers have been quite lethal so far, dismissing all their opponents in the last five games, with pace spearhead Mohammed Shami being the pick of the bowlers.
The 29-year-old further said these are good signs for Indian cricket and added the Zimbabwe batsmen will have problems negating the pace and swing of the Indian bowlers on Saturday.
“Their new ball bowlers have struck early, where they possibly haven't done that in the past. They are bowling with some good pace, too," he said.
"It is certainly good for Indian cricket. And it will be very challenging for us tomorrow; not just the pace but the swing they are producing at the moment,” he concluded.
