At the peak of his career, he played a vital knock at Sharjah in an important match of Coca -Cola Cup (1998) against his favourite opponent Australia. The article is about his brilliant 143 which helped the team India to qualify for the finals.

Australia batted first and post 284 on board giving a daunting task of 285 for Team India to win the match. To qualify for the finals of Coca Cola Cup 1996, India India either needed to win the match or required to score 254 runs against mighty Australian attack. Because of desert storm, India's target was revised to 276 to win and 237 to qualify. Though India lost the match but Sachin played the innings of his lifetime ensuring a birth for his team in the final of the tournament. Sachin got out for a well made 143 off 131 balls which included 9 fours and 5 sixes.

“He was unstoppable. I don’t think anyone, apart from Don Bradman, is in the same class as Sachin Tendulkar. He is just an amazing player.”-  Shane Warne in an interview when he was asked about that knock.

“The best innings he has ever played” is how commentator Ravi Shastri described Sachin’s performance in an eventual Semi-Finals against Australia at Sharjah.
