How Much Do Umpires Earn For Officiating In IPL Matches?
IPL 2022: The 15th edition of the Indian Premier League kicked off on March 26th at Wankhede, where last season's runners up, Kolkata Knight Riders, thrashed defending champions Chennai Super Kings in the opening encounter of the season. After the first 37 matches, Gujarat Titans stand atop the points table with 6 wins in 7 matches followed by Sunrisers Hyderabad & Rajasthan Royals in 2nd and 3rd spot respectively with 5 wins each to their name in 7 matches.
All the efforts, hard work, training, & emotions in a cricket match often boil down to one man's decision and vision - the umpire. The on-field umpires and a TV umpire (third umpire) officiate the cricket match best to their judgement and often receive criticism or appreciation for the job they pull off.
In the biggest cash-rich cricket league in the world, the Indian Premier League, umpires from ICC's Elite Panels and some foreign umpires as well are invited to officiate in the tournament matches. With players receiving an amount ranging from 10 lakhs to 17 crores per season in the IPL, umpires are also paid well enough, certainly more than any other cricket league.
In the Indian Premier League, all umpires receive a fixed amount of Rs. 7,33,000 per season. This doesn't include the fees they receive for officiating in each match.
