Day 4 saw India taking a lead of 283 runs, courtesy of Shreyas Iyer and Wriddhiman Saha's timely half-centuries after New Zealand reduced them to 51/5 at one stage. Tim Southee and Kyle Jamieson picked three wickets each. Saha remained not out on 61 when India declared at 234/7.
In reply, New Zealand lost the wicket of Will Young early. Score 4/1 at Stumps.
