As we near the IPL 2022 Mega Auction, today is the last day for the 8 franchises to announce the players they are retaining. BCCI announced earlier that each franchise is allowed to retain a maximum of four players - 3 Indians & 1 Overseas / 2 Indians & 2 Overseas players.
Here are the final announcements for retained players:
Retained Players:
Mumbai Indians - Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Kieron Pollard & Suryakumar Yadav.

Punjab Kings - Mayank Agarwal & Arshdeep Singh
Sunrisers Hyderabad - Kane Williamson, Abdul Samad & Umran Malik
Delhi Capitals - Rishabh Pant, Axar Patel, Prithvi Shaw & Anrich Nortje
Chennai Super Kings - Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni, Moeen Ali & Ruturaj Gaikwad
Rajasthan Royals - Sanju Samson, Jos Buttler & Yashasvi Jaiswal

Kolkata Knight Riders are retaining Andre Russell, Varun Chakravarthy, Venkatesh Iyer & Sunil Narine.
Chennai Super Kings are retaining Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni, Moeen Ali & Ruturaj Gaikwad.
Ravindra Jadeja has been retained for 16 crores!
Delhi Capitals are retaining Rishabh Pant, Axar Patel, Prithvi Shaw & Anrich Nortje.
Sunrisers Hyderabad are retaining Kane Williamson, Abdul Samad & Umran Malik
Punjab Kings are retaining Mayank Agarwal & Arshdeep Singh.
Royal Challengers Bangalore are retaining Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell & Mohammad Siraj
Mumbai Indians are retaining Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Kieron Pollard & Suryakumar Yadav.
Latest updates state that Sunrisers Hyderabad are not retaining Rashid Khan & David Warner, their best bowler & batter.
Yashasvi Jaiswal is being retained by Rajasthan Royals. Earlier, we came to know that they are also retaining their skip, Sanju Samson, while they're letting go of Ben Stokes & Jofra Archer.
The most successful IPL franchise - Mumbai Indians, are retaining Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Kieron Pollard & Suryakumar Yadav. That means Ishan Kishan will go to the Mega Auction.
Kane Williamson and uncapped Indian players Abdul Samad & Umran Malik are being retained by the Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Royal Challengers Bangalore are retaining Mohammad Siraj as their 3rd retention choice, accompanying Virat Kohli & Glenn Maxwell.
Rajasthan Royals are set to release Ben Stokes & Jofra Archer.
Contrary to what we understood earlier, Punjab Kings are retaining 2 players instead of making no retentions. Mayank Agarwal & Arshdeep Singh will be retained by the PBKS franchise ahead of IPL 2022 mega auction.
As per the latest reports, Mumbai Indians are all set to retain Suryakumar Yadav.
The Royal Challengers from Bengaluru are most likely to retain Mohammad Siraj along with Virat Kohli & Glenn Maxwell. Siraj is the only bowler ever to bowl 2 maiden overs in a single IPL match.
RCB not being able to retain Chahal is understandable as the leggie would only get a lower salary if he is retained as a 4th choice. RCB would look to go after the mastermind spinner Yuzi Chahal in the auction
Fresh reports state that Royal Challengers Bangalore wanted to retain Yuzvendra Chahal but couldn't come to an agreement with the player. This means Yuzvendra Chahal will be released and will participate in the auction.
It is noteworthy that the genius leg spinner has been the highest wicket-taker for the Royal Challengers in the IPL. Some fans were also speculating 'Yuzi' to become captain of the RCB franchise after Virat Kohli's resignation from captaincy last season.
According to reports, Kolkata Knight Riders have informed Eoin Morgan that they won't be retaining him. Morgan captained KKR into the finals of IPL 2021.
Here is a list of retained players by different franchises that we know of:
Delhi Capitals
As of now, the Delhi Capitals are set to retain their captain Rishabh Pant, opener Prithvi Shaw, all-rounder Axar Patel & South African pacer Anrich Nortje, which implies Ravichandran Ashwin & Shikhar Dhawan will go to the Mega Auction. Shreyas Iyer also expressed his desire to captain the side but DC want to continue with Pant as skipper and hence, Shreyas will also go to the mega auction.
Chennai Super Kings
Last seasons' champs, Chennai Super Kings will surely retain their captain ever since their first season, MS Dhoni. Apart from 'Captain Cool', we understand CSK will retain Ravindra Jadeja, Ruturaj Gaikwad & English all-rounder Moeen Ali.
Royal Challengers Bangalore
Virat Kohli, who announced in the last season that he would leave the RCB captaincy after the 2021 season. Still, there's no question that this batting great would be Bangalore's first retention choice. Glenn Maxwell is also sure to be retained by RCB. As for Yuzvendra Chahal, Mohammad Siraj & Harshal Patel - there are no updates yet.
Kolkata Knight Riders
Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, Varun Chakravarthy & Venkatesh Iyer are the 4 players likely to be retained by KKR as per reports. It'd be interesting to see if the Knight Riders will release Shubman Gill and send him to the auction.
Mumbai Indians
One of the most successful franchises in the world, the Mumbai Indians have a tough pool of players to pick from. With the amount of rich Indian talent they have, it is certain that one of the top players would be released. Till now, only Rohit Sharma & Jasprit Bumrah are confirmed to be retained by the side.
Punjab Kings
Punjab franchise is highly unlikely to retain any player since their top performer & skipper KL Rahul has decided to part ways with the franchise.
Sunrisers Hyderabad
Sunrisers Hyderabad have also retained their captain Kane Williamson. According to reports, Rashid Khan wanted to be SRH's first retention but the management wanted the Kiwi captain to be their first choice for retention.
Rajasthan Royals
Rajasthan Royals have decided to retain their captain Sanju Samson, and he will continue to lead the Royals side.
