AUS vs WI: Match Preview:

Trending

Australia managed to chase down a meagre total at Queensland to go 1-0 up in the series. However, the batting would bother the Aussies as openers David Warner and Cameron Green managed 14 runs each, while Mitchell Marsh had a horrid return as he scored just 3 runs. Batting at #4 for the first time in his white-ball career, Aaron Finch returned to form as he scored 58 runs.

Explosive batters Glenn Maxwell and Tim David were dismissed for ducks and would be hoping to get back into the groove of things with the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022 in sight. Matthew Wade continued his good form as a finisher as he scored 39* runs to take the hosts to victory.

Josh Hazlewood was the highlight of Aussie bowling as he grabbed three wickets, dismissing opener Johnson Charles, Brandon King and Rovman Powell. Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins grabbed two wickets each while Camron Green managed 1 wicket. Spinners Adam Zampa and Glenn Maxwell went wicketless but maintained a feasible economy.

West Indies batters failed as a unit where only Kyle Mayers (39) looked on the song and remained the top scorer. The aggressive Windies' batting approach didn't work out as none of the other batters barring Odean Smith (27) crossed the 20-run mark. The West Indies batters would hope to gain form before the T20 World Cup starts.

The bowling did good but their total ultimately proved too low to be defended. Sheldon Cottrell and Alzarri Joseph picked up 2 wickets each while Jason Holder, Yannic Cariah and Odean Smith managed 1 wicket each.
