Strikers, after opting to bat, got off to a great start as they scored 34 runs off the first four overs of the powerplay. Matt Renshaw and Philip Salt added 61 runs in 43 balls. Renshaw got out for 30 off 23 with the help of five fours.

Captain Alex Carey and Philip Salt then added 75 runs in the next 48 balls to set up the team to a big total. However, both Carey and Salt got out in space of three balls resulting in a collapse. Carey scored 42 from 25 balls while Salt made 59 runs off 42 balls.
