Ben McDermott's 91 runs innings went in vain as Hurricanes failed to finish the 184 runs chase. McDermott got out in the penultimate over bowled by Liam Thatcher, leaving Peter Handscomb and new batsman Nathan Ellis to score 21 runs off the last six balls. Handscomb smashed a six to keep Hobart in the game but eventually got run out.

Dawid Malan, after McDermott, was the next best batsman, as he scored 26 runs.
Sam Rainbird got two wickets - D'Arcy Shot and Tim David while Billy Stanlake, Adam Zampa, and Liam Thatcher got a wicket each.
Earlier, the Hurricanes put Stars to bat first. Marcus Stoinis, opening the innings, smashed an unbeaten 97 runs to take the team to 183/6. Stoinis' knock included seven fours and seven sixes. Nicholas Pooran and Hilton Cartwright contributed well to the teams' score.
