NZ vs SL T20 World Cup 2022: After a sensational ton by Glenn Phillips, Trent Boult picked up 4 wickets as New Zealand bowled out Sri Lanka for 102 runs in 19.2 while defending a target of 168. This is New Zealand's 2nd win in the Super 12 and now have the most points in Group 1.

Chasing 168 to win, Sri Lanka were off to a horrid start as Trent Boult shattered the New Zealand top order with 3 early wickets in the form of Kusal Mendis (4), Dhananjaya de Silva (0) and Charith Asalanka (4). Tim Southee grabbed the first wicket as he dismissed Pathum Nissanka (0) in the first over.

Bhanuka Rajapaksa (34) and Dasun Shanaa (35) were the only batters able to cross the double-digit mark, as Sri Lanka continued to lose wickets at regular intervals. For New Zealand, Tim Southee & Lockie Ferguson picked up a wicket each, Mitchell Santner & Ish Sodhi picked up 2 wickets each while Trent Boult was the top wicket-taker with 4 wickets to his name.

In the first innings, After some early breakthroughs, a ferocious hundred by Glenn Phillips helps New Zealand score 167/7 off the board against Sri Lanka here at Sydney Cricket Ground.

New Zealand won the toss and opted to bat first against the struggling Sri Lankan team. The toss didn't help the Kiwi side much as the team lost their opening batters Finn Allen (1) and Devon Conway (1) within 3 overs.

Kane Williamson has been in the lean patch from quite a few innings and today also he just got 8 runs from his bat and was sent to the pavilion in the 4th over. 

The team was struggling to 3/15 in 4 overs but then came Glenn Phillips who anchored his side and seared 104 runs in 64 balls which included 10 fours and 4 sixes at a strike rate of 162.50.

Sri Lankan bowling in Sydney bowled incredibly well right from the start. Kasun Rajitha got the opportunity to play this game where he demonstrated his credibility with the bowl and scalped 2/23.
