Chasing a modest total of 116, KKR got off to a conscious start as it scored just in the powerplay and lost the wicket of Venkatesh Iyer. Shubman Gill continued to play the anchor as Rahul Tripathi, too, got out early.

Gill, along with Nitish Rana, stitched a 55 run stand in 59 balls for the third wicket to push SRH out of the game. Gill got out after scoring 57 from 51 balls with the help of ten fours. Rana also departed at the score of 25 from 33, but it was too late for Hyderabad to make a comeback as Dinesh Karthik finished the game in the last over.

Earlier, Hyderabad opted to bat first and was in trouble in the first over itself after losing Wridhiman Saha for a golden duck. At the end of the seventh over, SRH's score read 38/3 with all top three batters, including Kane Williamson and Jason Roy, back in the dugout.

The inexperienced tried hard to take the team to a competitive total but failed. Priyam Gard scored 21, while Abdul Samad made 25. Hyderabad struggled its way to 115/9 in the first innings.
