Shanthakumaran Sreesanth Nair has announced his retirement from all fomr of cricket. The fast bowler who was part of the World Cup-winning Indian teams in 2007 and 2011 and made his comeback after 9 years, has now retired froHOwm all domestic and international cricket.

Sreesanth was handed a life-ban in 2013 after he was found guilty of spot fixing while playing for Rajasthan Royals in the IPL. Later, his punishment was reduced to 7 years and his ban was lifted, as he made his comeback to cricket in 2020.

However, the 39-year old cricketer didn't get picked in consecutive IPL auctions and was recently seen playing in the ongoing Ranji Trophy. The bowler on Wednesday (March 9th) announced through a tweet that he is retiring from professional cricket after no real sparks since his comeback.

The right-arm fast-medium bowler from Kerala has represented team India in 27 test matches, 53 ODIs and 10 T20Is. Sreesanth has registered 87, 75 and 7 wickets respectively in these matches. He is remembered for his performance in the semi-finals of the inaugural T20 World Cup in 2007, where he dismissed Aussie greats like Adam Gilchrist and Matthew Hayden; and took the catch that won India the T20 World Cup in the final against Misbah-ul-Haq.

Sreesanth made his debut on 25th October 2005 against Sri Lanka at Nagpur, where he picked up 2 wickets in 5.4 overs. Whereas, the last time he represented India was in a test match against England at the Oval on August 18th, 2011.
