Jan.15 (CRICKETNMORE) - The first ODI against England at Pune today will mark the begining of Virat Kohli's era as he takes over India's leadership in all three formats after MS Dhoni stepped down as captain of ODI earlier this month. Kohli's biggest challenge as an ODI captain would be to match the benchmark set by Dhoni.

“Dhoni was successful because of his offensive style. His views will be priceless but I will do my own preparation. We both understand that,” Kohli said.

“I am delighted to be given the captaincy in all three formats. I don’t think it is a burden. It will just make me better. I would like to take the bulk of the responsibility now and let others express themselves freely,” he said about his new role.

“I don’t think anything is different. Everything is as usual, nothing in my mind has changed… just that I’ve been made the captain.”

He also added: “Dhoni will have a bit more freedom and assurance.”
