Resuming the session on 191/5, KL Rahul got out soon after a well-made 84 as the Indian lower-order got introduced. A well-set Ravindra Jadeja took the charge and scored his 16th half-century in tests to put India in a comfortable position. He got out after scoring 56, trying to get quick runs.

If England had thought they had could restrict India under 250, Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah had different plans. A counter-attacking inning by the Indian tailenders meant the lead went close to 100. Bumrah, in particular, was in charge of striking boundaries, and even a six!

However, it was just a matter of time that one of them mistimed a shot to put an end to the Indian innings on 278. Ollie Robinson ended up taking a fifer while James Anderson took four wickets.

Brief Score:

India - 278/10 in 84.5 overs
