Joe Root remains unbeaten at 96 and is keeping England in game with the lead of 140 runs on day 4 of the 1st test.
Resuming the 2nd session at 119/2, Root and Dom Sibley made full use of the batting-friendly conditions to stretch the lead. Jasprit Bumrah, however, gave India the timely breakthrough in the form of Sibley.

Root was then joined in by Jonny Bairstow and two looked to pounce on anything within the reach. Bairstow hit 30 off 50 balls before he got out at the boundary off Mohammed Siraj's delivery.
Daniel Lawrence, too, had similar instructions to hit anything within the reach. Lawrence also got a quick 25 from 32 balls but Shardul Thakur trapped him in front.
Jos Buttler joined his captain at the crease and given the situation of the game, he will also look to get some runs on the board as soon as possible.
