ENG vs IND: Match Preview:

Without the 'regular' T20 players in the first T20I, team India batters display great T20 batting intent as they smacked the bowlers for runs without caring about staying in the crease, thus beneficially boosting the run rate in the middle overs. Captain Rohit Sharma gave a good start with a quick 24-ball-14, while Deepak Hooda made a strong case for his inclusion with 33 runs off 17 balls.

Suryakumar Yadav scored 39 runs off 19 balls while Hardik Pandya was the star with the bat as he smacked 51 runs off 33 balls, notching his maiden T20I fifty. It'll be interesting to see who will make place for Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant and possibly Shreyas Iyer in the 2nd T20I.

Just like batting, the bowling was also led by Hardik Pandya as the all-rounder picked up 4 wickets, including 3 wickets of the top-order batters. Bhuvneshwar Kumar was lethal with his swing, dismissing England captain Jos Buttler in the very first over for a duck. Arshdeep Singh swung the ball both ways early on and impressed many, but will be replaced by Jasprit Bumrah in the 2nd T20I.

England batters would look to score heavy with the bat as the top order was dismissed cheaply against India while chasing 199 runs in 1st T20I. Moeen Ali, batting at #6, was the top scorer for the English team with 36 runs. Harry Brook scored 28 runs, Chris Jordan was unbeaten on 26 while Dawid Malan scored 21. None of the other batters were able to cross the double-digit mark. The likes of Buttler, Jason Roy and Liam Livingstone would look to go hard in the 2nd T20I and level the 3-match series.

Although almost all the bowlers used picked up a wicket for England and bowled well in the death overs, the middle overs are where the hosts leaked the majority of the runs. Even though they had as many as 7 bowling options, they couldn't halt India to a lower total. Moeen Ali and Chris Jordan picked up 2 wickets each for England while Reece Topley, Tymal Mills and spinner Matthew Parkinson grabbed 1 wicket each.
