June 29, London (CRICKETNMORE): Jason Roy explosive innings of 167 helped England chase down 308 and win the series against Sri Lanka at The Oval on Wednesday. Roy made 162 off 118 balls (13 x 4, 4 x 6) as England cruised to victory in the fourth ODI despite the challenging target for a 2-0 series lead with one game to play. He fell just five runs short of England's highest one-day score made by Robin Smith (167) against Australia in 1993

England finished on 4-309 in 40.1 overs with 11 balls to spare after Sri Lanka made 5-305 in 42 overs in the rain-shortened game at the Oval. Check Full Scorecard

Their victory target was revised to 308 on the Duckworth-Lewis method after Sri Lanka's innings was interrupted by rain but that made little difference as Roy led a masterful run chase.

"What a day. Incredible win for the boys," Roy said. "It's just a shame I wasn't there in the end. I was pretty disappointed."

For Sri Lanka, Mendis top-scored with 77 and Mathews made 67 not out. They both put together a 128-run partnership for the second wicket to get Sri Lanka out of early trouble when Kusal Perera was run out early in the inning for 1
