In the absence of regular names, the Indian top order fired with fifties while West Indies bowlers made a comeback in the latter half as India managed to post 308/7 in 50 overs.
Openers Shikhar Dhawan and Shubman Gill scored fifties as they etched a partnership of 119 runs for the first wicket in 17.3 overs. Gill was unluckily dismissed via Nicholas Pooran's direct hit after scoring 64 runs in 53 balls with 6 fours & 2 sixes.
Captain Shikhar Dhawan carried on as he etched a partnership of 94 runs in 97 balls with Shreyas Iyer for the second wicket. Dhawan was dismissed on 97, just 3 runs shy of his first ODI century since 2019. Shamarh Brooks held on to an excellent catch to deny the Indian skipper of the ton.
