Kolkata, July 7 (CRICKETNMORE): Batting for opportunities for underprivileged children, former India Test cricketer Arun Lal on Thursday lamented the "general aversion" people display towards street children.
Lal and his wife Debjani took a laundryman's son under their wings and he eventually went on to achieve milestones and is now the associate vice president of treasury at JSW Steel (Bikash Chowdhury).

"We are very fortunate to have the experience of associating with three or four other boys... they are very intelligent. What I have learnt is most of us when we are going along the road and they (street children) come to sell newspapers, we rush them aside as somebody who might steal, or do something or because they are dirty. We have a general aversion which is indescribable and I don't understand why," Arun Lal said here.
He was at the launch of CRY's "School the Spark" campaign for child education.
The former right-hand batsman urged people to provide opportunities for the underprivileged.
