In the upcoming tour of England, West Bengal-born wicket-keeper batter Indrani Roy has got her maiden call-up for India.
Roy moved to Jharkhand a few years ago where she has been playing for the state team regularly. The 23-year, since then, on several occasions got a chance to meet her idol MS Dhoni, who too hails from Ranchi.

The batter has had a few conversations with the former Indian captain and has tried to get the most of it to improve her game.
“During a training session in Ranchi sometime last year, I had a long conversation with Mahi Sir about how to improve my game and he had told me that I should ensure that I improve my reflexes and movement in the five-meter radius. For wicketkeepers, that’s a key thing and he advised me that I should try and get better. That actually helped me,” Indrani told as quoted by Sportstar.
She said that learning from a legend like 'Mahi Sir' is a privilege.
“Learning a thing or two from a legend like Mahi Sir is a privilege and his advise actually helped me improve my game. Every time I hit the ground, I try to remember his tips.”
Indrani Roy was the highest run-scorer in the recently held Senior One-Day Trophy where she amassed 456 runs in eight innings while averaging 76. Roy hit two centuries and a fifty in the tournament.
