4 October, Dubai (CRICKETNMORE): The ICC has today confirmed that a revised constitution for the USA Cricket Association (USACA) will go to the ICC Board for consideration later this month. Following the suspension of USACA earlier this year, the ICC has been working with the USA cricket community to unify the sport under a common revised constitution as part of the continuing efforts towards reinstatement of USACA.

An advisory group comprising representatives from across the cricketing family in the USA has been working for a number of months on developing a draft constitution that will provide cricket in the USA with a sustainable foundation and which reflects best practise in American sport.

This was presented by the advisory group to the ICC Chairman Shashank Manohar along with ICC Directors Dave Cameron and Imran Khwaja, who subsequently shared the key principles with USACA, who have been invited to provide feedback on the proposals. The ICC Board will then consider the constitution and next steps later this month.

Mr Manohar said: "I would like to thank everyone who has committed to this process for the long term benefit of cricket in the USA.”

ICC Chief Executive David Richardson added: "We have heard from representatives across the USA cricketing community and there is a clear desire from them to unify under a single umbrella.

"The ICC is here to facilitate that process of building a strong foundation on which the sport can develop. Should the ICC Board consider the new constitution appropriate for the US market then we would look to USACA to adopt that as part of the fulfilment of their reinstatement conditions before full implementation of the constitution in 2017."
