Ahead of the 3-match ODI series at home against West Indies, team India is receiving setbacks day after day. According to a report by Times Now, Indian all-rounder Axar Patel has been tested positive for COVID. Axar wasn't a part of the ODI squad but was given a place in the T20I squad for the 3-match series against West Indies. Axar Patel however, had not joined team India in Ahmedabad.
Yesterday (2nd February), BCCI informed via a press release that Shikhar Dhawan, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shreyas Iyer had tested COVID positive along with net bowler Navdeep Saini. These 4 players were placed in isolation thereafter.
After the 3 main squad players were found Covid positive, Mayank Agarwal was added to the Indian ODI squad. The Karnataka-opener is expected to open the innings with captain Rohit Sharma in the 1st ODI as KL Rahul will join the team from the 2nd ODI onwards.
