Resuming the day at 94/4, Dean Elgar and Temba Bavuma began positively, scoring at over 3.5 runs per over for the first 45 minutes. Jasprit Bumrah was brought back and he gave India the much-needed breakthrough in the form of Elgar, who scored 77.

Quinton de Kock quickly added 31 runs from 52 balls with Bavuma for the sixth wicket. de Kock, who hit 21 off 28, was unlucky to get played on against Mohammad Siraj as the hosts lost a key wicket in a big run chase.

Wiaan Mulder couldn't contribute much and edged one to the keeper off Mohammad Shami to keep South Africa in trouble.

Debutant Marco Jansen has joined Temba Bavuma at the crease with South Africa needing 123 runs in the next two sessions while India just three wickets away.
