IND vs AUS 2nd Test: Match Preview:

Trending

India registered a dominating win in the 1st Test, beating Australia by an innings and 132 runs. Captain Rohit Sharma led from the front as he scored his 9th century. However, the rest of the top and middle order failed to score big. In the lower middle order, left-handed all-rounders Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel stood up scoring 70 and 84 runs respectively and etching a partnership of 88 runs for the 8th wicket.

Ravindra Jadeja led the bowling as he picked up his 11th five-wicket haul in Test cricket, returning after a period of 5 months due to injury. Ravichandran Ashwin had his spell on the Aussies in the 2nd innings, picking up his 31st 5-fer and restricting the Kangaroos below the 100-run mark. Jadeja and Ashwin combined took a total of 15 out of 20 Australian wickets.

Australian batters had a really hard time in the Nagpur Test tackling the Indian spinners in their home conditions. While openers David Warner (1) and Usman Khawaja (1) were dismissed by Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj respectively, the spinners took care of the rest of the batting attack. Marnus Labuschagne was the top scorer with 49 runs while Steve Smith (37), Peter Handscomb (31) and Alex Carey (36) were the only other batters to reach the double-digit mark. Australia were all out for 91/10 inside a session in the 2nd innings.

In the bowling however, Todd Murphy had a stellar debut as the youngster grabbed 7 wickets in the first innings. Captain Pat Cummins took two wickets while Nathan Lyon managed 1 wicket but the batting display by the visitors made sure they didn't get to bowl again in a second inning.
