Who is Hugh Edmeades?
Hugh Edmeades replaced Richard Madley as the official auctioneer in the IPL Auction 2018. Edmeades has experience of more than 35 years, participating in several marquee auction events. The 62-year old has conducted more than 2,500 auctions in his career, including an auction of Eric Clapton's 88 guitars which raised a total of $7,438,624.
Apart from this, Hugh Edmeades also auctioned of Daniel Craig's Aston Martin DB 10 from a James Bond movie - Spectre, for an amount of £2,434,500 in 2016.

“During my 38 years as an auctioneer, I have taken plenty of two-day auctions, but admittedly, none lasting a potential 12+ hours. However, I am not at all fazed by the prospect of being on my feet for up to six hours each day. Mentally and physically, I will be splitting the sessions into “bite-size pieces” and taking the opportunities to regroup during the breaks in the auction,” Edmeades was quoted as saying by InsideSport.
