The auctioneer Hugh Edmeades had a medical emergency in the middle of the auction when he collapsed due to low blood pressure. The Auction was halted for a while and the lunch was taken early while Edmeades was given medical attention. Although he was confirmed to be stable but couldn't continue the Auction and Charu Sharma was called up immediately to resume the day.

However, Edmeades had already conducted more than two sets before the unfortunate incident including the marquee players set, which saw Shreyas Iyer being sold for INR 12.75 Crore to Kolkata Knight Riders.

While Iyer was the most expensive player on the marquee set, R Ashwin was the least expensive, attracting only INR 5 Crore bid before being sold to Rajasthan Royals.

The batter set 1 saw Devdutt Padikkal being the most attractive player as he was bought by Rajasthan for INR 7.75 Crores. However, the most notable event of the set was Mr. IPL Suresh Raina being unsold along with David Miller and Steve Smith.

The all-rounders set was a very competitive one where Royal Challengers Bangalore bought Harshal Patel and Wanindu Hasaranga for INR 10.75 Crore each. Jason Holder and Krunal Pandya went to Lucknow Super Giants for INR 8.75 Crore and INR 8.25 Crores respectively. Shakib Al Hasan and Mohammad Nabi couldn't attract any bids from the franchises and remained unsold.

The wicketkeeper set saw Ishan Kishan becoming the second-highest-paid Indian after Yuvraj Singh as Mumbai Indians got him for INR 15.25 Crores. It was a fierce battle between Mumbai, Punjab, Gujarat, and Hyderabad.

Another notable name on the set was Nicholas Pooran who also found a lot of interest and was finally bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad for INR 10.75 Crores.  Sam Billings, Wriddhiman Saha, and Mathew Wade didn't attract any bidders from the wicketkeeper set and remained unsold.

The fast bowler set was the most intense one of the day. Deepak Chahar got the most interest and forced a bidding war that went up to INR 14 Crores only for Chennai Super Kings to win him back eventually. Shardul Thakur too had a good day where he was bought by Delhi Capitals for INR 10.75 Crores after an intense battle. Lockie Ferguson and Prasidh Krishna were sold at the price of INR 10 Crores to Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals respectively.

Spinners set had less attraction where only Yuzvendra Chahal, Rahul Chahar, and Kuldeep Yadav attracted bidders. Chahal went to Rajasthan, Chahar to Punjab, and Kuldeep to Delhi.

One of the most awaited names was Dewald Brevis and his bid didn't disappoint. The 'Baby AB' attracted many bidders but was eventually bought by Mumbai Indians for INR 3 Crores. Rahul Tripathi was sold for the most in the uncapped batters category - INR 8.5 Crore to Sunrisers Hyderabad.

The uncapped players continued to be the center of attraction in the all-rounders' category as well. Shahrukh Khan forced a bidding war and was sold back to Punjab Kings for INR 9 Crores. Similar was the case for Rahul Tewatia, who was bought by Gujarat Titans for INR 9 Crores.

Shivam Mavi too got back home as Kolkata bought him for INR 7.25 Crores. Hyderabad did the same with Abhishek Sharma to get him back for INR 3.8 Crores.
In the final few sets, the teams made some budget buys to fill in the squad with uncapped players. However, in the last set of the day, R Sai Kishore once again opened up the bidding war and found himself a team with the name of Gujarat Titans for INR 3 Crores.
