Chasing a target of 190 runs, Shubman Gill started off the innings with class. In the second over, being bowled by Arshdeep Singh, Gill played a graceful push drive and managed to dodge Odean Smith at mid-on for a four. On the third delivery, Gill played his favourite shot as Arshdeep offered him a short length delivery. The 22-year old got on top of the bounce and pulled it for a four with no deep mid-wicket fielder.

Arshdeep delivered the third ball short and wide, and Shubman Gill reached out to slap it through the cover-point region. Gill on purpose went in front of square to beat the fielder behind sweeper point and smacked the third boundary of the over.

With this Shubman Gill provided the kind of start Gujarat Titans needed while chasing the target set by Punjab Kings. Gill went on to complete his fifty while trying to win GT their third consecutive win of the season.
