IPL 2023: Big Blow For RCB As Reece Topley Gets Injured On Debut After Picking Up A Wicket
Playing his debut IPL match, pacer Reece Topley made a good start but after bowling 2 overs was unable to continue on the field.
RCB vs MI: After being put in to bat first, Mumbai Indians posted a total of 171 runs on the board while and managed to set a target of 172 runs against Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 5th match of the Indian Premier League 2023. Even though RCB bowlers were rather impressive in this outing, there was a slight heartbreak for the Bangalore fans early on in the innings.
Playing his debut IPL match, pacer Reece Topley made a good start but after bowling 2 overs, was unable to continue on the field. To save a few runs for his new franchise, Reece Topley attained a shoulder injury. This incident happened on the 3rd delivery of the 8th over. Bowler Karn Sharma bowled a tossed-up delivery on the leg side to Tilak Varma, who stepped down the track and glanced it towards fine leg.

Reece Topley got across to his left and dived to stop the ball. However, he landed awkwardly on his right shoulder and immediately looked to be in a lot of pain. Moments later, Topley walked off the field while having a chat with the RCB physio. Earlier, Topley had grabbed an important wicket in the form of Cameron Green and conceded 14 runs in his 2 overs.

Apart from Topsey, Mohammed Siraj also bowled impressively in the powerplay and managed to put Mumbai Indians on the backfoot from the start. However, youngster Tilak Varma stepped up for the Mumbai Indians as he remained unbeaten after smacking 84 runs off just 46 deliveries with 9 fours & 4 sixes, taking MI to a fighting total in their first match this season. For RCB, Karn Sharma grabbed 2 wickets while Siraj, Topley, Akash Deep, Harshal Patel and Michael Bracewell managed 1 wicket each.
