Archer has been out of action since March 2021 after undergoing elbow surgery. However, Archer was making good progress to make a comeback this season. The fast bowler was seen training with the England Test team in Barbados.

Now with the news of his newly diagnosed lower back stress fracture, Archer's chances of making it to the England T20 World Cup squad that will fly to Australia in October are also done and dusted.

Apart from the T20 format, England is majorly missing him in the Tests. There have been severe changes happened in England's test squad including a change in the management and captain. Archer has been a massive miss in the last few months, especially in Australia where England lost the Ashes 4-0.
