On a low-scoring Thursday night, Mumbai Indians defeated and knockout Chennai Super Kings from the race for the IPL 2022 playoffs. Mumbai completely dominated the game right from the ball one as they bundled out Chennai for their second-lowest total in the IPL history - 97. In reply, although the five-time champions had a nervy start and were 4/33 at one stage, Tilak Verma made sure Mumbai safely reached the target with five wickets in hand and five overs to spare.
