Sri Lanka came into the match knowing that defeat could spell the end of their campaign in the ODI tri-series also featuring Zimbabwe. They dismantled the hosts, who batted for a meagre 82 -- Bangladesh's ninth-lowest total in ODIs.

In reply, Sri Lanka's openers Danushka Gunathilaka (40 not out) and Upul Tharanga (34 not out) knocked off the required runs in just 11.5 overs.

For the hosts, Mushfiqur Rahim and all-rounder Sabbir Rahman were the only batsmen managing to score in two digits: 26 and 10 respectively.

Paceman Suranga Lakmal (3/21) made short work of Anamul Haque, the opener falling for a duck after dragging on to a wide and full delivery. Within five overs, Bangladesh found themselves three wickets down, with key players Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan back in the hutch.

Dushmantha Chameera bowled with good pace, returning the excellent figures of 2/6 including the wicket of Rahim who was undone by a slower delivery.

Thisara Perera and left-arm wrist-spinner Lakshan Sandakan also took two wickets apiece to wrap up Bangladesh's innings in just 24 overs.

Brief Scores: Bangladesh 82 (Mushfiqur Rahim 26, Sabbir Rahman 10; Suranga Lakmal 3/21, Dushmantha Chameera 2/6) lost to Sri Lanka 83/0 (Danushka Gunathilaka 40 not out, Upul Tharanga 34 not out).
