MI-w vs RCB-w: Hayley Matthews smacked a half-century as all-round Mumbai Indians thrashed Royal Challengers Bangalore by 9 wickets to register their 2nd win in Women's Premier League 2023. RCB on the other hand, are still winless after two matches.

Chasing 156 runs to win, MI got off to a great start as openers Hayley Matthews and Yastika Bhatia added 45 runs for the first wicket in 5 overs. The partnership was broken as Yastika was dismissed by Preeti Bose inside the powerplay after scoring 23 runs in 19 deliveries.

West Indies all-rounder Hayley Matthews on the other end was then joined by England's Nat Sciver-Brunt, and the duo etched an unbroken partnership of 114 runs in just 56 balls to take the team to victory with 5.4 overs remaining. Matthews smashed an unbeaten 77 runs off just 38 balls with 13 fours & a six, while Nat Sciver-Brunt scored 55* runs in 29 balls with 9 fours & a six. 

Preeti Bose was the sole wicket-taker for RCB as the likes of Renuka Singh Thakur, Ellyse Perry and Megan Schutt went wicketless. In the first innings, 

Despite a strong fightback by the Royal Challengers Bangalore lower order, Mumbai Indians managed to bowl out the opposition for 155 runs in 18.4 overs in the 4th match of Women's Premier League 2023. Hayley Matthews was the top-wicket taker for MI. 

After the openers gave a good start, adding 39 runs in 4.1 overs, RCB went from 39/0 to 43/4 in a space of 7 deliveries. While Smriti Mandhana managed 23 runs, Sophie Devine (16), Disha Kasat (0) & Heather Knight (0) were dismissed cheaply as RCB looked in a lot of trouble. 

However, the lower order stepped up to avoid a meagre total. Richa Ghosh scored 28 runs in 26 balls while Kanika Ahuja contributed with 22 runs. Shreyanka Patil (23 off 15) and Megan Schutt (20 off 14) etched a partnership of 34 runs in 21 balls for the 8th wicket to take the total across the 150-run mark. 

For Mumbai Indians, all-rounder Hayley Matthews was the top wicket-taker with 3 wickets to her name. Spinners Saika Ishaque and Amelia Kerr grabbed 2 wickets each while Nat Sciver-Brunt and Pooja Vastrakar managed 1 wicket each. 

Earlier, RCB captain Smriti Mandhana won the toss & opted to bat first against Mumbai Indians in the 4th match of WPL 2023. This match is being played at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai.
