MI Cape Town registered a comprehensive win in their first match and are set to continue the winning momentum at home. With a target of 143 runs, opener Dewald Brevis played an explosive unbeaten knock of 70 runs in just 41 balls with 4 fours & 5 sixes as MI chased down the target in 15.3 overs at a loss of just two wickets. Brevis' partner Ryan Rickelton also scored 42 runs in 33 balls while Sam Curran, batting at #3, managed 20 runs in 16 balls. 

The bowling department looks equally if not more strong than the batting lineup. Led by Joffra Archer, MI bowling managed to keep down the Royals for just 142 runs. Jofra Archer picked up 3 wickets while pacer Olly Stone registered 2 wickets. Duan Jansen registered a wicket to his name. Sam Curran, George Linde and Rashid Khan went wicketless. 

For Durban Super Giants, captain Quinton de Kock was the lone soldier in their batting as the opener smacked 78 runs off 52 balls with 5 fours & 5 sixes. As long as De Kock was at the crease, DSG looked in the hunt but once he got out, the batting unit ultimately failed to chase down the total. Kyle Mayers (39), Heinrich Klaasen (20), and Wiaan Mulder (10) failed to score big and would look to gain back form. Pretorius smacked 14 runs off 6 balls but in the end, there were too many runs left. 

The bowlers were taken to the cleaners in their first match, where the majority of bowlers had an economy higher than 8.50. Only Keshav Maharaj (4-0-23-1) and Kyle Mayers (1-0-3-0) had a decent economy. In terms of wickets, spinner Prenelan Subrayen picked up 2 wickets while Keshav Maharaj, Dwain Pretorius, Akila Dananjaya, and Jason Holder registered 1 wicket each. Reece Topley didn't feature in the playing 11 in the match and would be interesting to see whether the left-arm English pacer is included for DSG's 2nd match.
