In the opening fixture of the inaugural SA20 league, MI Cape Town will clash against Paarl Royals in Newlands, Cape Town.

MICT vs PR: Match Preview:

MI Cape Town, owned by the most successful IPL franchise Mumbai Indians, boasts of good hitting power in the SA20 league as well. The squad is led by Afghan spinner Rashid Khan, who has proved his mettle with his leg spin bowling in T20s all around the world. Ryan Rickleton and Grant Roelefson can open the innings, with Rassie van der Dussen, Dewald Brevis and Liam Livingstone making up the middle order. Sam Curran, George Linde and Odean Smith can provide some useful cameos down the order.

Along with spin king Rashid Khan, MI Cape Town also have South African pace gun Kagiso Rabada in their ranks. MICT also acquired Marco Jansen's twin brother Duan Jansen for a whopping 3.3 million and can make his way to the playing 11 ahead of Beauran Hendricks. Left-arm spinner George Linde will head the spin department along with Rashid Khan with Liam Livingstone contributing as well. Odean Smith and Sam Curran will comprise the pace department with Jansen and Rabada. MI Cape Town also have Jofra Archer in their squad and he can make a comeback in any of their matches. 

On the other hand, Paarl Royals will be led by David Miller, who formerly played for the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL. Miller won the IPL trophy in 2022 with Gujarat Titans and would be filled with confidence to win the inaugural season of South Africa's T20 league. Paarl Royals have Rajasthan Royals' opener Jos Buttler at the top of the order, along with Jason Roy. Evan Jones, former England captain Eoin Morgan and David Miller will cover the middle order. Wicket-keeper batter Dane Vilas, who was bought at 3.3 million, will be expected to provide explosive finishing down the order. With Obed McCoy ruled out, Andile Phelukwayo will bat at #7. 

Lungi Ngidi will be the lead pacer for Paarl Royals along with all-rounder Phelukwayo and Corbin Bosch. West Indies left arm pacer Ramon Simmonds can also make his place in the playing 11 after an impressive season in the Caribbean Premier League. The spin department will be led by South African T20 specialist spinner Tabraiz Shamsi along with Bjorn Fortuin.
